Spectacular prehistoric discovery in Tultepec
Estado de Mexico – A spectacular discovery was made near the village of Tultepec. Scientists discovered bones of more than 14 mammoths as well as pitfalls, which according to first assumptions were created by humans to catch the animals. According to first estimates, the findings are believed to be more than 15,000 years old. The find includes more than 800 bones of the now extinct species. It has been known for a long time that mammoths lived in this region. Already in the 1970s, the skeleton of an animal was found during the construction of a subway in Mexico City. According to the National Institute of Anthropology and History (Inah), however, this discovery is the largest in history.
